Ok, here's the deal. I just upgraded(?) to vista. The problem I'm running into is this. Whenever I burn Cd's I get that annoying gap in between songs even when I set it at DAO. I'm using Roxio, can anyone suggest another program that doesn't do that? Even with lossless files I still get that gap. This never happened with my old system. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I have sonic and it lets me set gap, try right clicking on the tracks once they are selected for burning. If 'properties' comes up you might find a gap setting you can adjust. I know on my sonic software I can set gap for all tracks except first one. Most burning software has gap set to a 2 sec default.

Good luck

Install Ubuntu and forget about windows altogether. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
Never have to reboot your pc. Never have to worry about viruses, never have to pay for any software ever again. Never get any stupid messages "windows has detected that you`ve picked your nose, please restart your pc" And best of all, it`s all free, everything but the pc!
They have 24/7 support through the forums, it`s alot friendlier than here(but nowhere near as funny).
Bill Gates & Steve Jobbs have enough money without you or me giving them any more(yes I know Gates has given more money to charity than anyone else on the planet, I`m just saying he`s got enough).
There is software for everything - cd and dvd burning, ripping, encoding........etc. You can do everything that you can do in windows without all the bullsh*t that goes with it.

On a different subject, I think I`ve just gone mad. Whilst typing this post, I`ve been humming and tapping along to "If I Had The World To Give" from Shakedown - I hate that tune. Weird. (It came up on random) Ahh thats better some Tom Waits!!!!
The only windows in my house are the ones that let the light in.

How the mighty have fallen...

That's funny--hate it when that happens (the tune in your head).

I would but it would void my warranty. I tried to install an older version of Roxio and it had issues to.

well, i don't know your set up beyond the fact that you have windows, but i have rarely had any positive experience with Roxio, it's just a horrible program; given that, i don't really burn any CDs these day, however, when i did, i had good success with Nero, but my version of Nero is not compatible with Vista; i have heard though that recent versions of Nero work with Vista, you might give that application a try ... of course it's not free

Download Fuerio from etree.org its freeware. Works fine with vista and gives the option of seemless.

Fuerio is not freeware! They just aren't as forceful about making you pay for it. It hasn't been updated for several years and version 1.68 goes way back to Windows XP with SP-1. It doesn't makes sense that such old software work work properly on the new Vista platform.

Fuerio is also more complicated to use than Nero and a few others, and was designed by experienced users for themselves...

I second Arb on Nero. Even older versions. I used Media Player, Roxio, and a couple of others, and had a terrible time with them all. I got Nero with a nice little Memorex stand alone burner, about $100 at one of the big name outlets, and have been VERY happy for almost 15 months now. Never fails; uses all many of disks from cheapest to best, easy to install, reinistall, etc., etc.

Defn did NOT like Roxio though it came free on a system I purchased. Do admit that I mainly use the burner and Nero on my older system with XP rather than Vista, so can't be completely sure of compatibility issues.
